London is engaged this week with one of the most anticipated horse races in the world. The 2016 Royal Ascot Horse Racing event runs from Tuesday, June 14th to Saturday, June 18th, 2016 with 30 races-5 races a day-and at least 8 of them at group 1 level. Fast horses and their equestrians will compete for millions of pounds in prize money and trophy cups determining who's the best of the best! Originally called East Cote, this 300-year old race was founded by Queen Anne in 1711. There’s a Queen Anne Stakes race remembering her considering most of the races have royal family and British landmark names such as Queen Mary Stakes, St James Palace, Windsor Castle Stakes Duke of Cambridge, King George V Stakes, etc. Also, the Queen of England and her Royal Family attends this event every year by riding around the track in a horse and carriage leading a horse-drawn procession daily.
